Day 1 The Fear of the Lord

‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. ‘

Proverbs 1:7

We will begin this time in the word by letting Jesus speak over us. We want to hear the clear and true call to fear the Lord. I love the way the Amplified Version helps us see the meanings of the words in this verse. Imagine that you asked Jesus, “How can I obtain wisdom?“ His reply is: ‘The [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; But arrogant fools despise [skillful and godly] wisdom and instruction and self-discipline.“ Proverbs 1:7 (AMP)

He pauses and repeats the first part once more, “The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.” You see a smile dancing in his eyes and you sit completely still. You are in awe, and yet still wondering, “Is this something that I can do? “ Jesus then says, “Isaiah prophesied this of me, ‘And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord.’” Isaiah 11:2-3

See? He says, It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that we are able to walk in the fear of the Lord. For the kindness of the Lord will lead you to repentance and help you return to the Father. Then, his smile broadens and he says, the fear of the Lord will also make your heart tender before the Lord. You will become a good listener to the voice of the Father leading you to great delight!

The fear of the Lord will allow you to see me – the Beloved Son and the King of Kings. Letting you then discover your true identity as beloved too. Come, and see, Jesus says, “follow me.” For the fear of the Lord is the beginning and the preeminent part of wisdom [its starting point and its essence], And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding and spiritual insight. “For by me (wisdom from God) your days will be multiplied, And years of life shall be increased.” Proverbs 9:10-11 (AMP)

After all, as Paul stated my desire for you is “that your hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Me (Christ), in Me are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:2-3) I want to give you myself completely and through me you will become wise.

You again, sit and stare in awe and you can feel the assurance his presence gives, and your soul feels the pleasant breath of life alighting you with hope.
