Day 6: I am the Way, Truth & Life

Do you know Jesus?

This complicated question has puzzled generations of believers. How do you know if you know Jesus? Is it because you pray a lot? Read your Bible daily? Prayed the “sinner’s prayer” once before?

Jesus says very clearly in John that he is the way, truth and life, and that no one comes to the Father except through Him. Many interpretations and teachings use this as a reference to our lives after death, and our acceptance into heaven. So if that’s the case, how do we apply it to our lives now?

When we study the Gospels and the words of Jesus, it gives us a look into the heart of God, and who God is. We learn in verse 7 that Jesus says, “If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

By studying Jesus and learning His character, we see a reflection of what our God is like in human form – how we are called to be. We get to see God’s righteousness in a direct comparison to how we live our lives. It is the most pure and true form of learning, from the one who created us, and then walked in the same road we did.
