A Devotional on Mary with Amie Stockstill

You have more in common with Mary, the Mother of Jesus than you would think.

Mary was chosen and called to carry the gospel — to  carry Jesus Himself our Savior and to not only carry Him but also deliver the Savior to the world. You, also, have been called and chosen to carry the Greatest Story Ever Told; and to not only carry it in your heart, but deliver it out of your mouth.

My name is Amie Stockstill, and I’m the founder of Let’s Echo. Let’s Echo is an organization that has seen that many women want to use their voice for God but don’t know how, and they don’t know where to start. That’s where we come in and provide support and resources to help women develop their voice to make a difference.

It is really the joy of my life.

Today, I’m so thankful that FaithSocial has asked me to share a little bit about Mary as part of their series, The Greatest Story Ever Told and it is truly the greatest story ever told.

We would not even be who we are today without the story of Jesus and the most pivotal character in the birthing of Jesus is obviously Mary, His mother. We are in Luke 1 and I’m just going to go through this with you and parallel our life with the life of Mary.

Mary was young. She was going about her business then BOOM. The angel Gabriel showed up to her and this is in verse 26 of chapter 1. He comes to her and says, “Mary you found favor with God and God’s going to use you. Through you, you’re going to birth the Saviour of the world, the messiah, the one everybody has been waiting for.

Mary obviously just like anybody else (this is verse 34) is like, “But how this happen? I am a virgin.” The angel of God replies to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the most high will overshadow you.”

I want to stop right there and I want you to see the parallel that your life has with the mother of Jesus, Mary.

She’s going on about her life. You’re going on about your life, then the  messenger of God shows up to her. I’m here today as a messenger of God to show up to you, and say, “You have found favor with God. He has chosen you to be a messenger of the good news. He’s chosen you to carry the Greatest Story Ever Told.”

You’ve been told this story of Jesus. You’ve accepted him as your Lord and Saviour. Now it’s time for you to carry the gospel of deliverance everywhere from your mouth and from your spirit.

It starts in your heart. It starts in the story of your life, then it comes out of your mouth. The Holy Spirit will come upon you in power. He will empower you in boldness. He will give you the words to say as you deliver the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I want you to take a look at Mary’s response in verse 38, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true and then the angel left her.”

This is an identity piece when you know that you have given your life over to Jesus. Lord, you know my life is not my own. I want you to use it how you see fit. One hundred times out of one hundred times, He will always use your voice to proclaim the gospel and herald the good news to share and repeat the Greatest Story Ever Told.

That story is that Jesus came from heaven, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless spotless life, died on the cross, went to hell and the grave, took the keys from Satan, then rose again on the third day, and not only that but is now seated at the right hand of His Father praying for us every single day.

So if you’re nervous about using your voice for God. I want you to lean in to your intercessor and ask Him to give you the words to repeat the Greatest Story Ever Told.
